FMLA: Military Leave Time Benefits

Employees are entitled to take 26 weeks of leave, in a single 12-month period, to care for a family member who suffers a serious illness or injury in the line of duty on active military duty. This provision doesn't renew every year like the 12-week leave provisions specified in the FMLA; instead, it is available only once per service member, per injury. Employees who are entitled to this military caregiver leave may also take other types of FMLA leave, but they can take no more than 26 weeks off, total, in a single 12-month period for all FMLA leave.
